Experiences

The FirstGen Mentoring Program is something Hudson Valley created to cater to the first-generation college students. Our goal was to help them in any way they needed, whether it was through navigating the campus, connecting with services and people, or helping them navigate the school portal or email. 

On Immersion Day, I, alongside another student, spoke to an audience of parents on what it was like in the Honors College, highlighting all our experiences in a very honest manner. The audience asked many questions about our personal experiences and how we balance school, work, and a social life.

I assist with administrative tasks, organize information for alums and current students, and support event planning, including fundraising galas. Through this experience, I have strengthened my organizational, communication, and professional collaboration skills. It has also allowed me to see firsthand how institutions work to support students and strengthen community connections

I additionally serve as a member of the Faculty Student Association (FSA) Board, which is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation established by law to run auxiliary services on campus, including the bookstore, child care-center, food services, athletics, and student activities. I'm one of the three other students in the board that help collaborate and provide student perspective and contribute towards any campus initiatives.
